The “vintage” Theta Delts had their annual football weekend at the Yale game. Attending were Al and Kitty Richmond, Rudy Fleischacker, Jessica and I, Wil Hamp ‘62, Jim Murchie ’62, and Harold Milton ’63. Lehigh won, 31-13, on their way to an undefeated regular season. Stopping by our tailgate were Paul Smith, Ed Watters, Fred Braun, Jim Wilson, Harry McNally and Mike Semcheski. The day before, we visited Jim Thorpe, which will be an option if you come back for reunion. We highly recommend it, even if you’ve visited before (take the trolley tour!).

Our 65th reunion will be held June 11 to 14. We hope to see you there! And check out our class website: www.lehigh61.com.

Paul Smith thought he retired but finds he really just switched activities. He worked with the Senator McCormick team in 2024 and wishes all our congressional representatives would emulate his work across the aisle. As class president, Paul spends some time at Lehigh working on the ethics endowment and especially the Hagerman lecture. Pete made a sizable donation to Lehigh, so Paul keeps an advisory committee informed and staffed with younger alumni as we replace our class members. 2026 is our reunion year and he says it will be interesting to see how many of us are ambulatory when we parade.

Biking and working out at clubs near home, Paul skips town (suburban Philadelphia) in the winter to take his marvelous golf career to new levels in Bonita Springs, Florida where he catches up with Robyn and George Hulsizer.

Paul and Carol Anne spend time in the summer on Long Beach Island, NJ – this year they took on a parental role by taking just the grandkids. Teenagers and their iPhones- ugh.

Ed Watters

Having nine grandchildren spread around the globe keeps Ed busy. His travels to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Australia with family and friends have been enjoyable. Basque in Spain and France including Carcassonne and Guggenheim round out some other places he’s visited. Ed spent time with Jim Wright and his wife in Bar Harbor, Maine. He plays bridge weekly with Paul Smith and sometimes Wight Martindale ‘60.

He enjoys Lehigh’s annual scholarship dinner and working with our ‘61 scholar and his personal scholar. He enjoys spending time with the scholars, especially when the scholar is a football player.

Roy Cravzow is invited by the Alumni Development Department to play golf in the Bethlehem area each fall since he and Wanda are sculpted in perpetuity on a bench in the Alumni Building garden. Roy brings his pro as a player and invited Paul Smith to be in the foursome (someone from the department is the host player). Roy hasn’t played much golf as he is working on a book in Portuguese about his career with his Brazilian partner. To date eight chapters are complete. He admits it is hard for him to write in a language other than English.

Al Richmond and his wife Kitty are enjoying life at Ashby Ponds Retirement Community in Ashburn, VA. He is no longer running marathons but is happy traversing the grounds of the 132-acre campus. He keeps in touch with his Theta Delt brothers, particularly Wil Hamp who lives nearby. He is enjoying the successful Lehigh football season and especially the Lehigh win over Yale with several Theta Delt brothers.  Al and Kitty will be welcoming two newborn great-grandchildren in February, bringing the count to nine greats in addition to 14 grands!

Drop me an email message and keep the class up to date on your present happenings. See you in June!
