Keep the Spirit of’61 Alive
The Class of 1961 has always believed the Lehigh experience extends beyond the classroom. Our friendships and commitment to Lehigh continues. Today, we have an opportunity to carry that spirit forward.
In celebration of our 65th reunion, our classmate Bob Colonna has generously pledged to match all contributions to the 611 Scholarship dollar-for-dollar. If we raise $64,000, Bob’s match will fully endow our scholarship and ensure its impact for generations of students.
The 611 Scholarship is distinctive and forward-looking.
Unlike many scholarships, it will be awarded only to second or third year students, allowing the university to recognize individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to the Lehigh community. The office of financial aid will select the recipient from a list of nominated students provided by the Dean of Students Office. This approach narrows the pool to recipients who show a clear propensity for service to Lehigh.
The objective is that recipients will:
- See the example of our class and understand the importance of giving back
- Develop new ways to increase student support for campus activities and athletics
- Help build a strong relationship with surrounding community through volunteer efforts
We invite every member of the Classes, 1961 and 2011, to participate in this effort. Together we can reach the $64,000 goal, unlock Bob’s matching gift, and permanently endow the 611 Scholarship.
This is your opportunity to ensure our creativity, leadership, and spirit of the Class of ’61 continue to influence Lehigh students for decades to come.
